After witnessing fog free mornings during last week, people across North India again woke up to a foggy morning on Wednesday. Palam Airport in Delhi reported very dense fog, as visibility dropped to 50 meters during early morning hours.
Similarly, Amritsar also observed very dense fog with visibility upto 50 meters, followed by Chandigarh with visibility at 100 meters. While Jaipur and Agra reported shallow fog, with visibility dropping to 600 meters and 800 meters respectively.
Poor visibility conditions resulted in delay of 7 flights, including both domestic and international, at Delhi airport. Amritsar and Chandigarh also reported major delays.
More than 20 North-bound trains are also running behind schedule. Some of the trains running late are Bhopal-Lucknow Express late by 5 hours, Uttar Sampark Kranti Express (Delhi-Jammu) late by 3 hours and Jallianwala Bagh Express (Tatanagar-Amritsar) late by 2 hours
According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, as the Western Disturbance moved away, the region is witnessing clear weather conditions. This has led to drop in temperatures and changeover of winds to north-westerlies, which has resulted in fog.
Meanwhile, East India remained devoid of any fog. Prominent locations such as Allahabad, Patna, Gaya and Varanasi witnessed fairly good visibility conditions of more than 1000 meters.
As per Skymet, the latest weather system did not had any impact on the region, thus it continued to remain fog free.
