Fog and rain in Delhi will again make an appearance during the start of February. A fresh Western Disturbance which is expected over Jammu & Kashmir from 1st of February will cause fog and rain in Delhi.
The weather system on its arrival over the Western Himalayan region will restrict the northerly to northwesterly winds that have become dominant in Delhi and northwest plains in the last couple of days to create space for the moist southerly winds. Change in winds, rise in humidity levels and low night temperatures would again make conditions favourable for the formation of fog in Delhi and the adjoining areas at the start of February.
Till then, day temperature in Delhi is expected to remain above normal as the sky will be mainly clear to facilitate more surface heating under relatively longer daytime. Delhi recorded a maximum of 24°C, four notches above the normal on Monday which is the warmest day experienced in January till now. Delhi witnessed below normal day temperatures throughout February with 17th January being the coldest at 12.9°C.
Meanwhile, the minimum temperature recorded in Delhi on Tuesday morning was 9.5°C which is expected to remain in the same range (8 to 9°C) during the last few days of January. Night temperatures will again witness a rise with clouds gaining ground to restrict the heat radiation under the influence of the expected Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir in the next two to three days.
