While its fog free mornings for most parts of North India, few coastal parts of the country are still witnessing foggy mornings. Jamnagar, Vizag, Bhubaneswar and Rajkot are amongst the few coastal places that are still reeling under fog during the wee hours of the morning.
Usually, this is the time when fog recedes from most parts of North India but remains adamant from retreating in several coastal places of India. Mainly sea fog, it is witnessed just before the sunrise and dissipates thereafter, rapidly.
Sea fog is formed due to presence of high humidity. Moreover, light wind speed, wind direction and cloud cover are other factors contributing to fog formation at this time of the year in these coastal areas.
Fog is normal in winters in North India due to the presence of weather system Western Disturbance which causes major disruption to rail and air traffic. Though thankfully, light fog over coastal parts of India during February and March does not cause major disorder to normal life.
