Fog makes a comeback to North and East India

After escaping fog for almost  three days, North and East India once again witnessed foggy morning on Sunday. With rain easing out in most parts of North, East and Central India, the visibility was seen dropping at several locations.

Fog in North India

Only few places witnessed dense fog on Sunday morning. Jaipur woke up to very dense fog as visibility dropped to nil. Amritsar also reported thick fog with visibility of 400 meters only.

Delhi also witnessed shallow fog at most of the places. Visibility at Palam Airport dropped to 300 meters around 4 am, which improved slightly around 7 am with visibility of 500 meters. Due to this, air traffic again got affected, as it led to cancellation of 11 flights, which included 7 arrivals and 4 departures, while, 3 flights were reported to be delayed.

Laxmi Nagar and Dwarka in Delhi also reported shallow fog, while rest of the places observed  fairly good weather conditions.

Fog in East and Central India

Very dense fog had enveloped Bhopal and Indore in Madhya Pradesh, as the visibility dropped to 50 meters on Sunday morning. While Lucknow reported 250 meters as its lowest visibility.

Meanwhile, Varanasi which had reported nil visibility on Saturday, was devoid of any fog today morning with fairly good visibility conditions up to 2000 meters.

Delay in rail traffic

Around 75 trains are reported to be running behind schedule. Some of the delayed trains include Madurai-Dehradun Superfast Express, late by 23 hours, Triveni Express Mail (Bareilly- Shaktinagar) by 17 hours, Koaa Express (Anand Vihar-Kolkata) by 6 hours and Sealdah-Ajmer Superfast Express by 4 hours.
