Unlike the last few days, it was a foggy morning for Delhiites. Most parts of the national capital observed dense to very dense fog. Areas including Faridabad, Model Town and Noida Expressway reported very dense fog. Dwarka, Indirapuram, Lakshmi Nagar, Noida, Palam and Vikaspuri also witnessed dense fog. The visibility at the Delhi airport dropped down to nil causing major flight delays.
On Wednesday morning, thick cover of fog enveloped many parts of the country. The visibility dropped to nil in Gorakhpur for the second consecutive day. Unlike yesterday, the visibility was reduced to zero in cities including Varanasi, Allahabad and Agra as well. Chennai and Lucknow also observed very dense fog with visibility of just 50 meters.
However, clear weather conditions were observed in cities including Guwahati where the visibility was 500 meters, Kolkata at 700 meters and Chandigarh at 600 meters. Also, cities including Jaipur, Siliguri and Bangalore witnessed good weather conditions with visibility settling at 500 meters and 600 meters, respectively.
At the same time, the thick cover of fog caused major disruptions in flight and rail traffic. Overall, 10 flights were cancelled in Delhi. The departure of 9 flights were delayed including the ones scheduled to Portblair, Lucknow, Amritsar, Jaipur, Srinagar and Dibrugarh. Also, the arrival of 6 flights were delayed. Some of these delays include flights coming from Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad.
Rail traffic was also severely affected causing 49 train delays. Some of these delays include Saryu Yamuna Express running late by 15 hrs, Chhattisgarh Express by 6 hrs, Dakshin Express by 21 hrs and Nandan Kanan Express by 16 hrs,
