Fog in North India in the last 24 hours has led to more than 50 trains running late. And if we talk of the last 48 hours, the number of trains that got delayed due to fog could reach over 100. Train operations on Amritsar-Delhi, Howrah-Delhi, Delhi-Jaipur and the Western Railway routes have been hampered due to fog. Trains were found to be running late by 1 to 12 hours till 8:30 am today.
Some of the important trains that have been delayed due to fog are New Delhi-Dibrugarh Rajdhani express, Jabalpur bound Maha Kausal express, Guwahati bound Northeast express, Darbhanga bound Bihar Sampark Kranti express.
Train operations could continue to get affected for the next 24 hours as visibility is expected to remain poor during early morning. Low temperatures, slow winds and high humidity levels are making the conditions favourable for the formation of fog in both northwest and Indo-Gangetic plains. Humidity levels in North India increase due to the moist southeasterly winds from the Bay of Bengal that prevail during the stay of Western Disturbance in the Western Himalayan region.
Fog in Delhi and other parts of North India has made a return today after a gap of almost three days. However, Northeast and East India have been witnessing foggy conditions for the last few days.
