Fog in Delhi, Northwest India to remain far away in wake of rains

As predicted, fog has abated most parts of the country. Even though day before yesterday dense to very dense fog was observed over the Indo-Gangetic Plains right from Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Prdaesh and North Madhya Pradesh, but the scenario has changed now and currently most places are fog free.

In fact, since yesterday fog intensity had decreased and the visibility over most places has become good. Places such as Delhi and Chandigarh witnessed shallow fog.

On Wednesday morning, dense fog was observed over the foothills of Uttar Pradesh such as Bareilly, Lucknow and Bahraich that recorded poor visibility level within 200-meter. Meanwhile, Bapatla districts in Coastal Andhra Pradesh also witnessed moderate fog with 500-meter visibility.

Rest all parts of the country including the national capital, Delhi observed good visibility levels with only shallow to moderate fog. However, during the early morning hours, Safdarjung Observatory observed 400-meter visibility which is likely to clear up in sometime.

However, now in wake of the Western Disturbance over the hills of North India and its induced cyclonic circulation over Northwest India, rains are likely to commence and increase over most parts of North and Northwest India.

Therefore, fog is expected to completely abate from all parts of the country, In fact, with time as increase of rains, the foothills will also become fog free.
