Fog in Delhi has finally made a comeback and that too an impressive one. The national capital recorded its first day of zero visibility in 2016 today.

Since last couple of weeks, above normal temperatures and only shallow fog prevailed over the city. But Friday morning proved to be different as Delhiites woke up to thick white fog crawling through their city.

Twitterati reacted to fog in Delhi and reactions poured in. A Delhi-based follower tweeted to Skymet saying, “Seems like I slept in Delhi and woke up in Shimla. Delhis is engulfed in fog today morning.” Others shared images of places across Delhi-NCR covered in very dense fog.

As usual, fog in Delhi has led to delays in air and rail traffic. A few incidents of road mishaps were also reported in different parts of the city. Nil visibility also slowed down traffic in various areas which led to mild traffic jams and slow movement of vehicles.

But Delhi was not the only city to observe very dense to dense fog. Visibility in Amritsar too dropped to zero at about 4:00 am IST today. Foggy mornings prevailed over Lucknow and Varanasi too with both the cities recording a visibility of 300 m.

After a really long time, it does look like winter in Delhi-NCR. As per Skymet Meteorology Division in India, temperatures across the region are expected to drop marginally during the next 24 to 48 hours. We will keep you updated on fog in Delhi and more as winter looks to tighten its grip over the city.
