Fog in Delhi was mainly shallow today though it was dense in the parts of Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. It improved in Delhi as the winds picked up speed (10 – 15 kmph) pushing the fog out of the city. However other places in North, East and Central India continued to be engulfed in moderate to dense fog due to light and humid easterly - northeasterly winds.

While fog in Delhi and parts of Uttar Pradesh lifted and bright sun appeared, north Rajasthan, south Haryana and north Madhya Pradesh were still covered in thick fog with visibility of less than a kilometer.
Forecasts at Skymet suggest, though fog in Delhi was better today, this is only temporary. Tomorrow, as the wind pattern could change back to light easterlies, fog could be dense and widespread in many pockets of Delhi of North India. There moght be no relief from dense fog in East, Northeast and Central India.
“Tomorrow there are chances of fog being dense and thick in north Rajasthan, south U.P, north M.P, Bihar. Fog in Delhi, Punjab and Haryana could be mainly shallow to moderate (300 to 800 meters) with dense to very dense (100 meters and below) in isolated pockets”, said a meteorologist at Skymet.
“This will be another foggy week in many parts of North, East and Central India. Fog cover will become dense in 48 hours, leading to dark, dull and gloomy skies”, added the meteorologist.
