Most parts of the country observed a fog free morning on Republic Day with only few cities recording very dense fog. Delhi recorded shallow fog at Palam with visibility at 400 meters. Model Town also observed shallow fog. Most areas of the capital city including Noida Expressway, Indirapuram, Vikaspuri, Dwarka and Lajpat Nagar witnessed a fog free morning due to a rainy night. With Barack Obama’s visit to the national capital, parts of the city observed light rain late at night.
Bangalore and Bhubaneshwar remained under the tight grip of fog with visibility recorded at a mere 50 meters. Bhopal also witnessed a foggy morning with the visibility at 300 meters. Lucknow witnessed fair weather conditions with visibility at 500 meters. The visibility in Gaya unlike yesterday improved to 600 meters.
Varanasi observed very good weather conditions with visibility at 1200 meters. Agra also witnessed a fog free morning with the visibility at 1000 meters. Weather conditions in Allahabad, Gorakhpur and Patna were also good with visibility at 800 meters.
The plethora of flight and train delays continued to disrupt travel. Overall, 4 flights were cancelled including 3 in departures and 1 in arrival. Also, 25 flights were delayed overall, including 20 delays in departures and 5 in arrival.
Rail traffic was also hit hard with 85 trains delayed. Some of these delays include Sridham Superfast Express (Jabalpur – New Delhi) by 6 hrs, Magadh Express (Islampur – New Delhi) by 4 hrs, Vikramshila Express (Anand Vihar – Bhagalpur) by 18 hrs, Northeast Express (Anand Vihar – Guwahati) by 13 hrs, Swatantrata Senani Express (New Delhi – Darbhanga) by 13 hrs and Karnataka Express (New Delhi – Bangalore) which was delayed by 8 hrs.
