Fog in North India showed some improvement on Friday morning but became extensive and engulfed Rajasthan. The state witnessed the first fog of the season on Thursday morning. North and Central Rajasthan bore the maximum brunt of fog weather as visibility levels dropped below 800 meters.
Today morning, the envelop of fog spread over almost entire Rajasthan leading to a significant drop in day temperatures. Parts of the state witnessed ‘cold-day’ conditions as the temperatures went down below 16⁰C. In Jodhpur, the maximum temperature dropped to 18.8⁰C on Thursday, which is 8⁰C below normal. Ganganagar was 11⁰C below normal at 11.9⁰C, while Bikaner was 7⁰C below normal. With morning minimums ranging between 7⁰C to 9⁰C, the diurnal variation is just about 3⁰C.
“Fog in Rajasthan will persist but the fog cover will thin down. Maximum temperatures could therefore take about 24 hours to normalize”, says senior meteorologist skymetweather.com
