Fog continues to hit air and rail traffic

It was a sigh of relief for residents of Gorakhpur and Allahabad, who woke up to a clear morning on the first Monday of the new calendar year. However, Indore is still witnessing very dense fog as visibility reduced to only 20 meters today morning. Fog also made its presence felt in other parts of North and East India which is as following:

Fog in North India

Very few places in North India witnessed very dense to dense fog on Monday morning. Except Jammu and Amritsar where visibility dropped to nil, rest all of the places witnessed fairly clear weather conditions.

Delhi observed shallow fog when visibility dropped to 600 meters at Palam, yet it was enough for flight delay and train cancellation. A total of 4 delays and 21 cancellations of flights from and in Delhi created chaos at the Palam airport in the wee hours of the morning.

Fog in East and Central India

Very dense fog had enveloped Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh and Raipur in Chhattisgarh as the visibility dropped to 50 meters on Monday morning. Agra and Gwalior witnessed visibility dropping to 500 meters and 800 meters respectively.

Delay in rail traffic

Even though dense fog spared most parts of Delhi, a total of 61 trains were running behind schedule today morning. Some of the delayed trains were Neelachal Express – late by 12 hours, Shridham Superfast Express – late by 22 hours (New Delhi to Jabalpur ) and Nauhandi Express late by 7 hours.
