Other low lying areas in the Kashmir Valley also saw water inundation in homes. The Indian Army, like always came to the rescue of the residents of Jammu and Kashmir. Schools and colleges in Srinagar and other areas of the Kashmir Valley have already been closed in view of inclement weather conditions.

Jhelum River yesterday was a metre above the danger level mark in parts of Jammu and Kashmir. As per reports, the Freozepur stream had breached the levels and thereafter entered a few villages in the nearby areas.

Relief and rescue operations are underway for the affected residents. As per weathermen, the situation is expected to improve in the next 18-24 hours as the Western Disturbance which was causing inclement weather over the region will move away and rainfall activity will take a backseat.
