Flooding rains in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan to continue for 24-48 hours

Heavy to very heavy rains have been lashing parts of Madhya Pradesh, parts of Rajasthan. Moreover, areas in Uttar Pradesh, bordering Madhya Pradesh have also seen some heavy showers.

In fact, during the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Sunday, Datia recording a whopping 132 mm, Sheopur 115 mm, Guna 107 mm, Tikamgarh 91 mm, Nowgong 80 mm, Pachmarhi 61 mm, Shajapur 46 mm, Bhopal 42 mm, Khajuraho 38 mm and Raisen recorded 33 mm rain. May continue until Aug 3rd.

These rains have occurred due to a well-marked low pressure area, which is over Southwest Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh region. The confluence zone of this system is extending up to Rajasthan, which is why rains have been heavy to very heavy over the eastern parts of the state as well.

Here, SawaiMadhopur recorded 178 mm, Alwar 98 mm, Kota 55 mm and Chhittorgarh 24 mm rain during last 24 hours.

 This well marked low is a slow moving system and is expected to stick around for a couple of days or more. Thus, during the next 24 to 48 hours, flooding rains in many parts of Madhya Pradesh as well as Rajasthan may continue.
