The month of August has remained fair for the states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. On and off rains have been occurring in most parts of both the states, particularly, the districts lying in East Uttar Pradesh and northern parts of Bihar have received moderate to heavy showers as compared with the other parts of the state.
However, soon good rains took a break and were taken over by light to isolated moderate spells. Though after remaining dry for 3-4 days, the last 24 hours once again became rainy for both Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
In the last 24 hours from 08:30 am on Thursday, Bahraich recorded 65.6 mm of rains, Allahabad 54.8 mm, Moradabad 41.8 mm, Bareilly 37 mm, Gorakhpur 35.4 mm, Muzaffarnagar 31.6 mm, Patna 38 mm, Gaya 13 mm and Purnea witnessed very light traces of 0.1 mm.
As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these showers can be associated with the axis of Monsoon trough running across the northern parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. In the wake of this weather system, moderate to heavy spells occurred in parts of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

Moreover, as the axis of Monsoon trough continues to run across Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, good rains are likely to continue over both the states for at least another 48 hours. Simultaneously, the intensity of rain will increase over Nepal as well.

These good rains in Nepal are also likely to add on to the ongoing rains. Waterflow from the Nepal hills may trigger flooding. After 24 hours, rains will once again start increasing after September 3.
However, the intensity of rain will be more over North Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Thus, the districts such as Najiabad, Bareilly, Bahraich, Moradabad, Gorakhpur, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga, Supaul and Forbes Ganj may witness moderate to heavy showers.
These good rains may even lead to flooding in many areas but the rain intensity will be lesser over the central and southern parts of the state. Places such as Jhansi, Hardoi, and Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh while Chapra, Gaya in Bihar may receive scattered light rain.
