Many parts of the state of Bihar have been receiving torrential rain for the last 2 to 3 days. Moreover, the last 24 hours also saw some heavy showers with Forbesganj recording 139 mm of rain, and Purnea 54 mm of rain.
At present, the axis of the monsoon trough is also running along the foothills of the Indo-Gangetic plains. Not only this, the Kosi river of Biharis currently flows above the danger level mark. Many districts like Katihar, Purnea, Kishanganj, Araria and Supaul are vulnerable to flooding conditions. We expect moderate to heavy showers to continue over Bihar for another 24 to 48 hours.
Monsoon was subdued over most parts of Bihar and Bihar is still rain deficient. Now, we expect these moderate showers to bring down the rain deficiency to a great extent leading to some relief for farmers. However, the Fury of flood will be a concern
Flood in Bihar is a normal phenomenon during the monsoon season but for the last 2 to 3 years, we have not seen any significant water logging or flooding in Bihar. Moreover, the state remained rain-deficient most of the time
