This flood situation was on account of the torrential Monsoon rains over the region. This was due to the passage of back to back cyclonic circulations over the region and the trough running through them. One system can be seen over Southwest Madhya Pradesh, followed by one over Northeast Madhya Pradesh and other over North Odisha.
However, the situation is likely to improve now significantly. According to Skymet Weather, rains are likely to reduce considerably after the next 24 hours.
Weathermen predicts that the prevailing cyclonic circulations are now likely to move northwards after next 24 to 48 hours. With this, the Monsoon trough will also shift northwards along the foothills of Himalayas running up to Northeast India.
In wake of this, rain belt will also shift and vacate the central parts of the country, bringing much-needed respite from incessant rains.
However, flood scare will now shift to eastern parts of the country including Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh on account of torrential rains expected over the region.
