Northeast India had been reeling under intense flooding conditions. The state of Assam had been seeing extreme flooding conditions.
During the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Thursday, while Dibrugarh recorded 96 mm of rains, other parts of Assam did not see heavy rains at all. Majbat 10 mm, Tangla 2 mm, Dhubri 1 mm, Tezpur 8 mm, Golaghat 10 mm.
Daily rains over Assam and adjoining areas will not be intense, and it will not accentuate the flood situation. However, the nature of this terrain is heterogenous and thus water bodies and catchment areas keep responding and the flood receding takes time.
Now, rains will remain on the lighter side and we do not expect anything intense. Gradual improvement in flood situation is expected due to reduction in heavy rains. After July 5, rains will significantly reduce, easing out the situation as well.
