Flood likely over Agartala, Tripura; heavy rains ahead

While most parts of the country are presently witnessing hot weather conditions, it is the northeastern part of the country where weather conditions are rainy. Several parts, in fact, are observing moderate to heavy rains.

These weather conditions can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation which currently persists over the NMMT (Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura) region of India. Moderate to heavy rains have occurred over the region during the last two to three days over the regions.

Tripura, in particular, has been severely affected from the weather conditions. In fact, for the past four days, intermittent showers have been affecting the state of Tripura. Several rivers over the areas including the Gomali, Khoai and Manu are flowing above the danger mark.

An area in the state of Tripura called the Shipahijala has been flooded and as per reports, at least 52 people have been killed. Not only this, many parts of the capital city, Agartala have also been submerged.

The national highway has also been bearing the brunt for the past few days. Trees have been uprooted over many areas due to strong winds affecting the region. As per weathermen, the flood situation is looming large over the region.

Not only this, the prevailing weather system is expected to persist over the region and heavy to very heavy rains will continue over the state of Tripura. In fact, flood like situation which is already persisting obver the state may worsen during the next few days.
