Heavy rains have been battering the state of Uttar Pradesh ever since the month of July began. It was on July 9 when Gorakhpur even recorded a three-digit rainfall. Though these torrential showers have created worrisome situation thereby alarming flood threats.

The rising river water due to heavy rains in the adjoining Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and the foothills of Uttar Pradesh will result in increasing the flood threat. Due to these heavy spells, the water level in the sacred river Ganges that penetrates from Allahabad and Varanasi is already on the swell. Meanwhile, the matter of relief is that except the south-eastern districts of Uttar Pradesh, rains in most areas will reduce and so will the risk of flooding. A trough line was persisting over Uttar Pradesh and a cyclonic circulation was over East Uttar Pradesh. Due to which Monsoon was mainly centered on the eastern parts of the state. Though moderate spells were observed by most of the western regions of the state as well. Though as compared with a day before, the rain intensity has reduced marginally over the eastern districts of the state.

As per Skymet Weather, the reason for these hefty showers over the fourth largest state in the country can be attributed to the cyclonic circulation that persisted over East Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Bihar. This cyclonic circulation intensified into a low-pressure area that gave good rains. However, now the low-pressure area has further intensified into a well-marked low-pressure area and is likely to move in the southwest direction over Madhya Pradesh.

In the view of this, the ongoing moderate to heavy rains over Uttar Pradesh will now reduce significantly. Many parts of the state may even experience dry weather conditions along with a rise in the temperature profile within the next 24 hours. However, on and off light rains will continue showing up particularly over East and southwest Uttar Pradesh.
