The fear of flood appears over Bihar as heavy rain has been predicted for the state. There are at present multiple weather systems that have made the situation vulnerable over the state.
At present the axis of Monsoon trough is running along the foothills of Himalayas, near Bihar and Nepal border. Therefore good rains are expected to continue all along the foothills of Bihar, and many parts of Nepal. Already Nepal is witnessing heavy to very heavy rains which is north of Bihar.
Another weather system as a cyclonic circulation is over west-central Bay of Bengal. And a trough is extending from sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Gangetic West Bengal which will increase the rain intensity over foothills of Bihar particularly East Bihar.
During the next 2-3 days we can expect fairly widespread rain with few heavy to very heavy spells to lash over the region. Normally every time good rains occurs over Nepal hills, the water tends to flow over Bihar and flooding is expected over few northeast districts of Bihar.
The districts that are more prone to flooding situations are Kishanganj, Araria, Supaul, Madhubani, Purnea, Katihar and Madhepura. Chances of flood like situations over these districts are more.
Bihar is at present witnessing 19% deficient rainfall for the entire monsoon season. These rains over the state will definitely improve the rainfall statistics drastically.
