Heavy to very heavy Monsoon rains in the foothills of Uttar Pradesh have triggered flood alert in the state.
During last 24 hours, Bareilly 77 received mm of rainfall while Bahraich recorded 51 mm. Rampur has also received heavy showers on Saturday.
Monsoon rains have hit hard Nepal as well, triggering flood-like situation. The flood waters have flow down the slopes from Nepal to the foothills of Uttar Pradesh. Normally, Uttar Pradesh gets susceptible to floods when Nepal receives torrential rains.
The axis of the Monsoon trough has moved north of its original position, towards the foothills of the Himalayas. At present it is passing through Amritsar, Meerut, Sultanpur, Patna, Malda and thence, southeastwards to Northeast Bay of Bengal.
Skymet Weather predicts more Monsoon showers in the foothills of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar during next one or two days. The rivers flowing across these region could rise above the danger mark, making matters worse for the people.
