Flood Alert in Balrampur, UP

Uttar Pradesh has been reeling under drought-like conditions for many days and was running largely rain deficient. Presently East and West Uttar Pradesh are rain deficit by 45% and 60%, respectively.

In the past 24 hours, West and Central Uttar Pradesh have recorded light to moderate rains and thundershowers. Hardoi witnessed 22 mm, Kanpur 26 mm, Hamirpur 11 mm, Jhansi 16 mm and Fursatganj 2 mm of rains, respectively. Gorakhpur and Bareilly also recorded some rains.

Also, due to heavy to extremely heavy downpour in Nepal, the flood-like situation has been triggered in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh.

Presently, a Trough is running from Punjab to Northeast India across southern parts of Uttar Pradesh. Thus, now we expect isolated light rains over the southern and south-eastern parts of Uttar Pradesh today.

However, the experts foresee that by tomorrow, the weather will completely turn dry over entire Uttar Pradesh. The dry north-westerlies will once again start to blow over the state and these dry weather conditions will be in offing until June 29. During this time, temperatures are also likely to rise with heat wave like conditions at few places. However, heat wave is not likely to make a comeback. Rains are likely to revive over east and central parts of Uttar Pradesh by June 30 in the wake of a Trough from North Haryana to East India across Uttar Pradesh.

Also, around July 1 and July 2, rains might pick up the pace and during this time many parts of Uttar Pradesh might witness light to moderate rainfall and thundershowers. Monsoon will then make further progress and might reach West Uttar Pradesh by July 2. Also, during this time easterly winds will be seen which would give rise to moisture and cloud formation and subsequently give rains. By this time, temperatures might dip and even come below thirty degrees.
