Fleeting Showers For Gujarat During Fag End Of March

March 28, 2023 1:22 PM|

The state of Gujarat is likely to have light rain and showers on 29th and 30th of March 2023.  Weather activity will remain confined to Kutch and the northern half of Saurashtra on 29th Mar.  Deesa, Patan and Palanpur may also observe cloudy sky and light sprinkle tomorrow.  More parts of the state will have similar weather conditions on 30th March. Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Baroda, Rajkot, Bhavnagar, Surendranagar, Mehsana and Anand are likely to have fleeting showers.

The state of Gujarat generally remains free from any weather activity during March. Rising temperatures with heat wave in some areas is frequently observed. Both the subdivisions of the state have observed contrasting weather conditions during March 2023.

Heat wave conditions prevailed for few days towards end of February over interiors of the state. However, sporadic showers lashed many parts in the first three weeks of March.  Both the sub divisions have registered large excess rainfall. Between 01st and 27th March, Gujarat recorded 10.6mm and Saurashtra & Kutch 15.6mm against their respective normals of 0.3mm and 0.2mm. Generally dry weather conditions prevailed for the last 3days and similar state is likely today as well.

Western Disturbance is approaching Western Himalayas tomorrow. Induced cyclonic circulations are likely over Central Pakistan and Southwest Rajasthan on 29th March. These will merge on 30th March and a broad circulation will cover central and southern parts of Rajasthan.  This feature will draw moist southwesterlies from the Arabian Sea on 29th and 30th March.  Accordingly, light rain and showers will lash different parts of the state on these 2 days.  Later,  with the anticyclone coming up over the state, clear weather conditions are expected from 01st April. Rise in temperature is likely during the first week of April over most parts of the state.
