Weather in Delhi could become chillier from tomorrow onwards as North India received its first winter rain in the past 24 hours. Many places in the northwest plains including Pathankot, Amritsar, Ludhiana, Adamput, Ambala and Chandigarh in Punjab received good amount of rain. Haryana, west Uttar Pradesh and some parts of Uttarakhand including capital Dehradun also received rain.
Snowfall has also been witnessed in Jammu & Kashmir with Srinagar receiving 16.2 mm of rain. The winter capital Jammu received 6 mm of rain. This rain and snow is going to have a bearing on the weather in Delhi in the form of decreased temperatures.
Day temperature in Delhi is six degrees below normal due to cloudy sky and is expected to rise from Tuesday onwards. The Western Disturbance over Jammu & Kashmir is responsible for rain and snow in North India. It is now likely to move northeastwards to make the weather conditions clear in the region. Another Western Disturbance is expected over Jammu & Kashmir by the start of the weekend from 26th December resulting in rain in Delhi.
