First week of December to bring in Winter chill over Delhi combined with single digit temperatures

While Winters are almost here, Delhi is yet to see single-digit minimum temperatures. Normally in the month of November, Delhi records single-digit temperatures on more than one occasion. Going by the records, in the twelve years spanning from 2007 to 2018 on nine occasions, Delhi has recorded single-digit temperatures. In 2017, Delhi recorded its lowest minimum temperature of 7.6°C. The month of November starts with a minimum temperature of 15 degrees and usually touches a single digit by the month-end.

However, this time Delhi is yet to record single-digit minimums. As of now, Delhi recorded the lowest minimum at 11.4°C on November 20. Presently, weather has took a turn in Delhi and cloudy sky is prevailing over the city. Also, rains and hailstorms have been recorded in the surrounding regions.

Generally, the night temperatures tend to rise whenever such activity takes over a region. The minimum temperature was recorded at 16.2°C today morning which is a total of six degrees above the normal mark.

This weather is expected to clear up the next 24 hours. Clearance is excepted tomorrow onward.

At present, southeasterly winds are blowing over the region which will start recessing tomorrow. Dry northwesterly winds will set in another 48 hours.

Single digit temperatures are expected to set in over the region around December 3 or 4. Thus chill of Winter is just around the corner followed by the setting in of Northwesterly winds.

This Winter chill will be a prolonged one and might continue for at least the next one week.
