The weather of Maharashtra and Telangana was dry for a quite a few days now. From last many days, the temperatures of both the states are settling 30°C or above.
In the last 24 hours as well, temperatures across Telangana have been settling in mid 30s, in fact close to 35°C. Wherein, during the similar time frame, the mercury is climbing close to 30°C in parts of Maharashtra. Even the coastal areas of the state like Mumbai and Mahabaleshwar is observing rise in mercury and settling 30 degrees plus.
However, these dry spells are now expected to take a backseat as some rains are on cards for both these regions. In fact, it would be the first spell of pre-Monsoon rains over the region.
As per Skymet Weather, a cyclonic circulation is seen over Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Besides this, a trough is extending from this system up to Tamil Nadu across Rayalaseema and Karnataka. In the wake of this weather systems, parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, Madhya Maharashtra, Telangana and Rayalaseema are likely to witness rains.
The situation is conducive for light rains to occur and remain for next two to three days. In fact, presently also the weather of Telangana has become cloudy. Hyderabad also stands a chance to witness rain activity during the next 24 to 48 hours.
Though these rains are not good for the standing Rabi crops but as the nature of these spells will be light and patchy, not much crop damage is foreseen.
Along with these short-lived rainy spells, strong gusty winds along with thundershowers are also predicted. These rain activities are likely to commence from tomorrow morning lasting until March 16.
However, by March 17, the weather of both these states are once again likely to become dry. These short rainy and thundery spells will give a marginal relief from the ongoing warm weather and mounting temperatures.
