After witnessing dry weather in February, the month of March also kick started with a dry weather in Kerala. However, soon this prolonged dry spell was eradicated with some rainy traces showing up in parts of the state.

From last 48 hours, Kerala has been witnessing on and off showers and many pockets of the state managed to record good showers. In a span of 24 hours from 08:30 am on Tuesday, Palakkad recorded hefty showers of 42 mm, Kottayam 27 mm, Punalur 16 mm, Alappuzha 10 mm and Kochi witnessed 7.8 mm of rains.

As per Skymet Weather, these pre-Monsoon rains can be associated with a cyclonic circulation which is seen over North Interior Karnataka and adjoining areas. A trough is also extending from this system up to Lakshadweep region.

Due to the combined effect of both these weather systems, rains occurred in parts of Kerala. Moreover, these rains are likely to continue lashing the state and its districts for another 24 hours.

Hence, people in Kerala can expect some rain and thundershower activities tomorrow as well. Thereafter, the rainfall intensity over the state will reduce but on and off light rains are still likely to continue. Henceforth, these rains may take a break and dry weather will start prevailing once again.

This will further result in the temperatures across the state and its districts to scale up.
