The months between December and March are considered to be a dry season for the state of Gujarat. December to February are winter months and temperatures remain on the lower side. Meanwhile, temperatures witness a spike during the second half of February when an anticyclone forms over Central Pakistan or western parts of Rajasthan which is the case in the current scenario.
Heatwave conditions are going on over parts of Saurashtra and Kutch since the last two to three days. Temperatures of coastal stations are significantly above normal. Dry winds are being pushed by anticyclone over West and South Rajasthan and Gujarat. Temperatures may increase further over both these states during the next two days.
There may be severe heatwave at isolated pockets of Gujarat and heat wave may occur over some more parts of the state. Western and Southern parts of Rajasthan may also witness heat wave. Dry inland winds will blow across interior Odisha leading to increase in maximums leading to heatwave at isolated pockets between March 15 and 17.
