A trough extending from the low pressure area over North Andhra Pradesh has given very good amounts of rain in Marathwada and Vidarbha. According to the data available with skymet, most of the districts in Marathwada have recorded good rain. For instance, Hingoli in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday has received 48 mm of rain, while Jalna and Osmanabad have witnessed 57 mm and 31 mm of rain, respectively. Nanded and Parbani have also observed 17 mm and 12 mm of rain during the same period.
The adjoining Vidarbha region has also recorded some good rain. According to the rainfall data available with Skymet, Yavatmal has received 44 mm of rain in a span of 24 hours from 8:30 am on Tuesday. During the same period Amravati and Wardha recorded 33 mm and 29 mm of rain, respectively.
The month of June had started on a good note for Marathwada as it observed normal rains during the month. However, in July the rainfall amounts reduced drastically due to poor rains and lack of weather systems. Therefore the rainfall deficiency in the region till August 11 is a whopping 52%.
On the other hand, Vidarbha since the onset of Monsoon in June has been observing fairly good rain. This can be understood from the fact that the rainfall amount in Vidarbha during June was surplus by 52%. But subdued rainfall in July saw the region become normal from being surplus.
Meanwhile, there are chances of good rain in Marathwada for another 24 hours, while Vidarbha will continue to observe rain for another two days.
