The city of Ahmedabad had mostly remained dry and only light rainfall activity was being recorded over the Gujarati city since a long time. In fact, only very light rains were seen and that too on very few occasions.
June rains are usually also quite less for the city of Ahmedabad as Monsoon usually arrives over the city around mid June. However, the months of July as well as August are core Monsoon months for the city of Ahmedabad wherein over 500 mm of rains are recorded.

While June was a disappointing affair in terms of rain for the city of Ahmedabad, the month of July has begun on a good note as rains did lash the city of Ahmedabad and its adjoining areas of Gujarat.
In the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Monday, Ahmedabad recorded a good 31 mm of rains bringing in relief from the prevailing hot weather conditions.
In fact, this spell has been the first of this Monsoon season. Before this, rains had occurred over neighbouring cities, but they ended up escaping Ahmedabad.
These rains have occurred due to a cyclonic circulation over Southwest Rajasthan, influx of moist southwesterlies from Arabian Sea to the Gujarat region and presence of off shore trough along the coast.
Now, as per weathermen at Skymet Weather expect light to moderate rains to continue for at least another 24 hours.
