The first weather system of the Monsoon season developed in the form of a cyclonic circulation and continued to undergo several intensifications. In fact, the system also became a depression for a little while and crossed the Bangladesh coast near Feni which happens to be south of Agartala. Thereafter, the system weakened into a well marked low pressure moving north northeastwards.

Currently, the system is marked over Tripura region as a  well marked low pressure area. This well marked low pressure is expected to move in a north northeastward direction only, weakening into a low pressure area.

Due to the presence of this system, some parts of the rain deficient Northeast India is expected to finally see some very good rainfall activity. In fact, fairly widespread rains and thundershowers are expected over Northeast India particularly over the regions of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura along with Assam as well as extreme East Arunachal Pradesh.

This rainfall activity is expected to last for about three to four days which will also be instrumental for bringing in Monsoon over rest of northeastern parts of the country. Thereafter, rainfall activity will slightly remain subdued.
