Cyclone in South Indian Ocean

All oceans across the globe remained devoid of any cyclone for a long time. The month of May promises favorable environmental conditions in almost all basins. Actually, the ocean and atmosphere have to resonate together for cyclogenesis, and proximity to the equatorial belt holds ideal conditions around this time.

An invest area has developed over the South Indian Ocean with its central region around 8.8deg S and 102deg E, about 650 km East Northeast of Coco Islands, Australia. Environmental analysis reveals favorable conditions with Sea Surface Temperature ( 30-31 degrees) and Vertical Wind Shear (10-15 km/h). The system is likely to move West Southwest slowly and intensify to a cyclone within 24 hours.

There is weather model consensus for the development of a significant tropical cyclone in the next 24-36 hours.
