The ongoing western disturbance is over northeastern parts of Jammu & Kashmir and another fresh western disturbance is appearing over North Pakistan and expected to pass through Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh.
We expect that these back to back western disturbances will continue to affect North Jammu & Kashmir till November 26. During last 24-48 hours, weather of many parts of Jammu & Kashmir remained cloudy to overcast.
And isolated rains happened over higher Jammu & Kashmir. But places like Srinagar and adjoining areas remained dry with cloud cover of medium and high clouds.
Day temperatures have fallen over central and southern Jammu & Kashmir but rain has not happened. As these western disturbances are moving along the higher latitude, so most probably the higher reaches of Jammu & Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh may receive some snowfall activity and other areas will receive scattered light to moderate rains.
But in spite of less rain and snow, these western disturbances can be termed as first active weather systems which are affecting hills of North India.
Rains and snow over hilly region are necessary for temperatures to drop over northern plains of the country. The northerly winds which blow via these cold areas when reached Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and adjoining help in temperatures to start to fall.
