The first active Western Disturbance of the season is all set to give a fresh spell of rain and snowfall activities over Jammu and Kashmir as well as Himachal Pradesh.
According to our meteorologists, until now, the Western Disturbances were traveling in the lower latitudes of Jammu and Kashmir and were giving only scattered rain and snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir while isolated activities over Himachal Pradesh. However, the wait is over as a fresh Western Disturbance has approached the Western Himalayas and is currently lying over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir.
This system would be a slow-moving one, expected to persist until November 8 and would give good rain and snow in Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. The rainfall activities would commence by the night of November 5 and by November 6 or 7, rain and snowfall would cover parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand as well.
There are chances of moderate to heavy snowfall over the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir and over the hilly areas of Himachal Pradesh.
Tourists heading towards the hills must exercise some precautions as the risk of landslide and mudslides increases during this time.
