The month of February has started with a bang for North Pakistan. The higher reaches of the region on the first day of the month itself recorded good amount of widespread snowfall. For instance Murree, in a span of 24 hours from 8.30 am on Sunday recorded 4 inches of snow, while Kalam and Sakardu witnessed 3 inches of snow.
The Western Disturbance along with its induced system over Central Pakistan has caused scattered rain over the region and southern Pakistan. These systems will gradually move eastwards giving short respite from the rain and snow.
However, another Western Disturbance is expected to affect the region from February 6 onwards giving another spell of rain and snow over North Pakistan. As reiterated by Skymet the freezing conditions in North Pakistan will prevail for at least a week.
The minimum temperatures in most parts of the region are settling at subzero levels. For instance Parachinar recorded -6°C as the minimum temperature on Monday morning, while Dir saw the night temperature settle at -1.5°C. Chitral and Kalath saw the minimum settle at -0.6°C and -1°C, respectively.
