As anticipated by Skymet Weather heavy showers have been recorded across the state of Gujarat. Meanwhile, a few northern parts of the state witnessed moderate to light intensity rains.

In the last 24 hours from 8.30 on Tuesday, Veraval witnessed extremely heavy rain of 83.8 mm, Porbandar 69.8 mm, Naliya 64.4, Kandla 62.3 mm, Dwarka and Surat 61.4 mm, Okha 53.9 mm and Bhavnagar 50.4 mm of rain. Rajkot also received moderate intensity rain of 26.8 mm, Deesa 25.2 mm, Baroda 17.7 mm and Idar 13.9 mm of rain.
In the same span of time light intensity rain of 7.9 mm was also recorded in Ahmedabad. These hefty showers can be attributed to the low-pressure area which was near Gujarat and closer to Mumbai. As per Sky weather, the well-marked low-pressure Area which was over Southwest Madhya Pradesh has moved westwards and is now prevailing over central parts of Gujarat.

This weather system is likely to intensify further into a depression. Therefore we expect moderate to heavy rains with one to two very heavy spells over the state. Places like Morbi, Jamnagar, Okha, Rajkot, Bhuj, Naliya, and Porbandar may receive extremely heavy rains.
Ahmedabad, Surat to witness moderate intensity showers. These hefty showers will continue for the next 24 to 48 hours and may trigger floods in some areas. Thereafter the rain intensity will reduce over the state.
