The wait is finally over! The new metro line which will connect Delhi with Faridabad is nearing completion. Authorities will carry out trial runs in a few days with the official opening scheduled for June, 2015. The route will stretch between Badarpur and Escorts Mujesar, extending up to Kashmere Gate in North Delhi.

For commuters in Faridabad, the new metro line is nothing short of a blessing. The line opens for public in June which is the pre-monsoon period in the region. The entire Delhi-NCR region experiences the summer heat during June, combined with spells of heat wave. Maximum temperature settles at around 39°C, while minimums stick around 28°C. The commuters will surely escape the heat while travelling in the air conditioned metro coaches in the month of June. Also, during monsoon, people opting for Metro trains won’t get caught up in NCR’s nightmarish traffic jams. Generally speaking, the residents of Faridabad will prefer travelling in the new metro line in all weather conditions.

Five new metro trains with six coaches have already arrived for the trial run. The trains are 2.9 metres in width and the Faridabad corridor will run on standard gauge track. A single coach can seat up to 50 people, and can carry around 250 people in total, if standing passengers are also included in the count. Overall, the full capacity of a six-coach metro train is close to 1,500 passengers.

The Faridabad corridor route includes nine metro stations. These are- Sarai, NHPC Chowk, Mewla Maharajpur, Sector 28, Badkal Mor, Old Faridabad, Neelam Chowk Ajronda, Bata Chowk, and Escorts Mujesar near YMCA Chowk. All nine stations are almost ready with finishing touches being given by authorities. NCB Colony and Ballabgarh are two stations which will be added to the line by 2017.
