The recent rains over the state of Maharashtra have provided a sigh of bliss to its residents. These rains have successfully brought the rain deficiency down but to some extent only.

Although, these rains were never expected to last for long, yet were fruitful to provide a relief from prolonged aridness.

As of now, rains have reduced significantly over the state. November 19 had seen good rains over Maharashtra. Since then, the quantum of rain has been continuously falling. At present, apart from Konkan & Goa, all the other meteorological divisions of Maharashtra are largely rain deficient while Konkan & Goa is deficient.

During the last 24 hours, scattered light rains were observed over South Konkan & Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra.  Negligible rains were recorded over Satara and Mahabaleshwar regions of South Madhya Maharashtra.

Further, a feeble Trough is extending from South Konkan & Goa to North Madhya Maharashtra. Due to its influence, light to very light rains are possible over South Konkan and South Madhya Maharashtra. However, quantum and spread of these rains will remain insignificant.

After 24 hours, weather of entire state is going to become once again dry and the wait for next rains would continue.

Talking about the temperatures, minimums over many parts of the state have dropped by 1℃-2℃. In the next 24 hours, we expect a marginal fall in minimums over Vidarbha, Marathwada and parts of Madhya Maharashtra and these areas will experience close to cold weather.
