Moderate rains with one or two heavy spells occurred over Coastal Andhra Pradesh. Whereas, Rayalaseema recorded light to moderate showers. As of October 24, Coastal Andhra Pradesh was surplus by 29% and Rayalaseema by 26%. In fact, rain surplus Coastal Andhra Pradesh has increased during the last couple of days due to heavy spells in wake of a Depression over Coastal Andhra Pradesh which has now weakened into a Low-Pressure Area and is over the Odisha coast. In Andhra Pradesh, significant rains of 20.3 mm were recorded in Machilipatnam, Nellore 38.2 mm and Visakhapatnam 15.2 mm.
We expect moderate rains to continue over Coastal Andhra Pradesh today as well. By tomorrow, these rain activities will decrease over entire Andhra Pradesh and we do not expect any significant rain activity over Andhra Pradesh until October end. However, there may be light to moderate rains until October 29. On October 30 and 31, rains will become scattered.
Thus, heavy rain episode for Andhra Pradesh is now almost over for the month of October. However, there is a possibility of good rains as the probability of formation of Low-Pressure Areas and Depressions still persist until December over the Bay of Bengal which usually travels towards Andhra Pradesh and Odisha.
Telangana
During the last 24 hours, Telangana also received moderate to heavy rains particularly Ramagundam recorded 96 mm, Hanamkonda 44 mm, Nizamabad 27 mm, Hyderabad and Mandek 6 mm each.
Now also we expect the light to moderate rain with isolated heavy spells to continue until tomorrow. These rains will be in wake of Low-Pressure Area over Coastal Odisha as well as a Trough which will extend from Cyclone Kyarr to Telangana in the upper levels. Thereafter, the rains will reduce.
Hyderabad may see light scattered rains and post that the rains might slowdown.
