The extremely severe Cyclonic Storm Tej finally made landfall over North Yemen near Al Ghaidah in the wee hours this morning. The storm weakened to a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm before crossing the coast and has further weakened to a Severe Cyclonic Storm.
Now, the storm is expected to become a Cyclonic Storm shortly and a depression later in the day while moving northwestward.
Wind speed that reached up to 90-100 kmph will decrease rapidly becoming 70-80 kmph gusting to 90 kmph during the afternoon hours and further reducing to 30-40 kmph by evening as the storm loses intensity.
Sea conditions on the other hand will remain rough until the evening hours of today over the Westcentral Arabian Sea region, which is why utmost precaution is necessary.
