During the past few days, winds over South Gujarat were blowing from west and west-northwest direction from the Arabian Sea. Therefore, the temperatures were near normal over these areas. However, winds have changed direction and at present, dry and hot northwesterly winds from Sindh and Balochistan are increasing temperatures. Thus, the maximums are on rise and are leading to heatwave conditions at isolated pockets of the state.

The maximum temperatures of Kutch and northern districts such as Bhuj, Idar, Surendranagar, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Baroda and Rajkot are quite high and are expected to rise even further and will settle in the mid-40s.

Relief is not expected over the state for the next few days. However, during the end of the month, rain is expected over the southern parts of Gujarat which will provide some respite.

Meanwhile, the adjoining state of Rajasthan has observed scattered dust storm and thunderstorm activity along with rain a few days ago. Due to this, while the weather was hot, heatwave had not made an appearance. As per Skymet Weather, the activities have now taken a break.

Thus, the weather across the northwest plains including Rajasthan has become dry. Dry and hot winds from northwest direction are leading to commencement to heatwave conditions in some parts of the state such as Sawai Madhopur, Barmer, Phalodi, Chittorgarh, and Bundi. No relief is likely from the scorching heat over Rajasthan as well in the coming days.
