Subdued Monsoon conditions have prevailed in parts of Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and North Odisha during the last 24 hours. The weather remained mainly dry with warm and humid conditions. The morning was also uneasy.

Presently, a Trough line is extending from Northwest India up to Bangladesh across the foothills of Uttar Pradesh, Northwest Bihar, Jharkhand and the central parts of West Bengal. In the wake of this system, rainfall activities may increase marginally in some parts of Gangetic West Bengal and in isolated pockets of Northeast Jharkhand, during the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, due to an upper-level Trough along the East Coast, rain is likely to increase in some parts of South Odisha during the next 48 hours. The chances of some light showers over the northern area cannot be ruled out as well.

Places such as Malda, Murshidabad, Nadia, Birbhum, Kolkata, Dhanbad, Sahibganj, Koraput, Gopalganj, Phulbani and Bhubaneswar may record rainfall activities during the next 24 to 48 hours.

According to the data available with Skymet from June 1 to July 12, West Bengal is rain deficient by 35%, followed by Jharkhand 32% and Odisha by 19%. We expect, the deficit seasonal rainfall to continue over these states during the next few days.
