July has begun on a thumping note with country recording exceptionally heavy Monsoon rains. As a result, the month which had commenced with 11% of rain deficiency, now stands at 1% surplus rainfall on July 6.
According to Skymet Weather, this significant drop of 11% in mere five days is not a rare feature. All thanks to the depression that had developed over Northeast Madhya Pradesh pounding good showers over the region.
Since last five days, the country has been recording surplus rains by 40% - 50%. The major contribution came from parts of Central and East India, particularly Madhya Pradesh. Following are the countrywide cumulative rainfall figures recorded from July 2 till July 6.
Monsoon forecast
Active Monsoon conditions will continue to prevail over East and Central parts of the country including Vidarbha region of Maharashtra for at least next one week. Thus we expect that the country would be able to sustain its Pan-India normal rainfall percentage.
By July 10, we expect Monsoon rains to pick up pace over North and Northeast India as well. Similarly, West Coast, which is presently witnessing normal to subdued rains, will also start performing.
