Winter storm Nika has hit midwest and northeast regions of the United States of America. The storm will continue to give very heavy snowfall in New York which has been put on emergency. Governor Andrew Cuomo declared an emergency for the entire state and shut down Interstate 84. "New Yorkers in affected regions should stay off the roads, check on their neighbors and loved ones, and stay inside their homes until the worst of the storm has passed," he said in a statement.

In Pennsylvania, Villanova University announced that it would be closed Thursday and Friday after the school's power provider projected an extended outage in the area. And in Kansas, authorities announced a third weather-related death from the storm: a 58-year-old man died overnight after a traffic accident Tuesday, the Kansas Highway Patrol said in a report published in CNN.com.

The United states of America has been facing back to back winter storms this week and is again bracing up for the third one during the weekend. Temperatures in the affected regions are below normal by 40 degrees.

During winters, the Arctic air mass which is a cold air collide with the warm weather in eastern parts of the country and brings snow during this time of the year. It's movement towards southeastern parts of the United States of America depends on Jet Streams which bring cold weather to these regions.
