Heavy Monsoon rains have been lashing most parts of East Uttar Pradesh since Sunday morning, providing relief from warm and humid weather conditions in the region. According to Skymet Meteorology Division in India, this is the first good spell of Monsoon rains over the region.
With this, rainfall in East Uttar Pradesh that was highly deficient earlier, is now inching towards normal. Till June 24, the region was deficient by 76 per cent. However, light to moderate rains during June 25 and 27 had brought the figure down to 39 per cent.
As per Skymet, a low pressure area over East Uttar Pradesh is giving rain over the region and adjoining parts of Bihar. During next 24 hours, we expect the intensity of rain to reduce as the system will now become less marked and is likely to merge with the Monsoon trough. However, scattered light rains will continue over the region.
