Today is the last day of the Southwest monsoon and most of East India is still rain deficient. Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Gangetic West Bengal have not received enough rain during the monsoon. A well-marked low-pressure area is now over the Northwest Bay of Bengal. It will move in a west-northwest direction across north Odisha and West Bengal coast. Rain activities will be intense over North Odisha, West Bengal, parts of Jharkhand, and Bihar during the next 4 to 5 days.

The well-marked low-pressure area may not proceed towards east Madhya Pradesh or East Uttar Pradesh as the westerly winds will not allow the weather system to move in the West. Therefore, this weather system will keep hovering over eastern parts of the country until October 5 or 6.

There are chances of intense rain activities over Bihar, eastern parts of Jharkhand, and many parts of Central and Northern districts of West Bengal. Post-monsoon rain during the first week of October will be surplus over these Meteorological divisions.

This upcoming rain spell will certainly be beneficial for upcoming Rabi crops over These areas. There will be sufficient water available moreover, soil moisture will also increase.
