Monsoon has covered most parts of East India but parts of West Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh are still waiting for the onset of Monsoon. The Monsoon has made a delayed onset and rainfall is also not vigorous.
The current weather conditions are such that we can say the monsoon is subdued over East India. But conditions are becoming favourable for commencement of heavy rainfall over sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, foothills of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Rain is also expected to cover Bihar and East Uttar Pradesh, and fairly widespread light to moderate rain is also expected over central West Bengal and Jharkhand during next 2-3 days.
One or two places of Bihar, Jharkhand and Northeast Uttar Pradesh will receive heavy to extremely heavy rainfall. By next 48 hours we can expect that Monsoon will reach most parts of East Uttar Pradesh and entire Bihar.
Monsoon rains are deficient over East India but we expect that these good showers which will continue till June 26 will reduce the deficiency to a large extent. Rainfall over Coastal Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal will remain subdued and occasional showers may occur.
