Heatwave has been wreaking havoc in several parts of India for quite some time now.
While the first victims of heatwave were a few areas in Peninsular India including Telangana, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, soon intense heat spread its wings over Central and North India.
Now, heatwave has abated from almost entire Peninsular India. In fact, parts of Karnataka and Kerala have also received some rain.
Also, due to back to back Western Disturbances in the Western Himalayas, temperatures have also witnessed a marginal drop in the plains of North India.
However, for the past two to three days, isolated pockets in East India have been observing intense heatwave conditions. Maximum temperatures have been recording 4 to 5 degrees above the normal levels.
In fact, some areas have also witnessed maximums being recorded around 7 to 8 degrees above the average range.
For instance, Sundergarh in Odisha observed its maximum as 45°C. Similarly, Bankura in West Bengal continues to sizzle at 44.7°C, the maximum in Jharkhand’s Jamshedpur settled at 42.2°C.
Also, Patna in Bihar observed its maximum as 42.3°C, which is not a general characteristic of the region during the first ten days of April.
Intense heatwave will continue to wreak havoc over isolated pockets of East India. No relief is likely over the region during the next few days. The reason being that no weather system is likely to affect the weather in East India at least for some time.
