An earthquake of 4.2 magnitude on the Richter scale struck Haryana at 4:30 am on Thursday. As per the USGS, the epicentre was 13 km southeast of Bawal which is a municipality in the Rewari district of Haryana. The municipality comes under the NCR of India.

Thus, the epicentre was quite close to the national capital which is why strong tremors were felt in Delhi and its adjoining areas. In fact, people across the NCR region including Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad and Ghaziabad felt strong tremors. Tremors were also felt in many parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Several people tweeted about buildings shaking in their areas. Not only this, many also tweeted that the earthquake was strong enough to wake them up. Residents were seen feeling out of their homes on the roads.

However, the earthquake was of moderate intensity and no damage has been reported yet. Normally, these earthquakes do not pose damage to life and property.
